WHY GO?
Embark on a breathtaking journey along the Camino Portugués, a historic 100km pilgrimage route bursting with charm and natural beauty. Starting in Vigo, this 5-day trek takes you through verdant forests, picturesque vineyards, and quaint villages before culminating at the awe-inspiring Cathedral of Santiago. Along the way, experience the rich Galician culture, taste mouthwatering local cuisine, and revel in moments of peace and reflection as you walk one of Europe’s most treasured paths.
Why walk the Camino?
This adventure is more than a hike; it’s an opportunity to disconnect from the hustle of daily life and reconnect with yourself and the world around you. Whether you’re seeking spiritual renewal, a sense of community, or simply the joy of walking through stunning landscapes, the Camino offers something for everyone. You’ll gain a sense of accomplishment, create lasting memories, and even earn the Compostela certificate upon completion of this 100-km route. There’s no better time than now to take this transformative journey—let the Camino guide you to a refreshed perspective on life.
What Will You Gain?
Walking the Camino Trail is a deeply rewarding experience. You’ll gain physical strength and endurance as you trek through diverse terrains. Mentally, the journey offers a unique opportunity to declutter your mind and focus on the present moment. Spiritually, the Camino is a path of introspection and connection, whether with fellow pilgrims, the natural world, or your inner self. You’ll also take home a sense of achievement and a story to share for years to come.
Why Now?
Late November is one of the most rewarding times to walk the Vigo route to Santiago. With fewer pilgrims, you’ll find peace on the trails, easy access to accommodations, and the rare joy of seeing Galicia’s landscapes at their most atmospheric—mossy greens, drifting fog, and crisp skies. It’s a journey that combines beauty, comfort, and a chance to end the year with clarity and renewed energy.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS?
- Vigo: The journey begins in Vigo, a vibrant coastal city where the Atlantic breeze sets the tone for adventure. Here, you can explore the historic old town, stroll along the scenic waterfront, and indulge in some of the freshest seafood in Europe before setting off on the Camino.
- Redondela: The first stage leads to Redondela, a charming town nestled between rolling hills and the stunning Ría de Vigo. The path winds through serene woodlands and coastal trails, offering breathtaking views of the estuary. Redondela is known for its historic bridges and welcoming atmosphere, making it a perfect first stop on the pilgrimage.
- Pontevedra: Continuing onward, the route arrives in Pontevedra, a city celebrated for its beautifully preserved medieval center. Cobbled streets, lively squares, and historic churches create a warm and inviting setting. Pilgrims can take a moment to admire the stunning Church of the Pilgrim Virgin, a symbol of the Camino, and enjoy the vibrant energy of this cultural hub.
- Caldas de Reis:The next destination, Caldas de Reis, is renowned for its soothing thermal springs. The walk to this picturesque town meanders through vineyards and peaceful valleys, offering a tranquil and rejuvenating experience. Upon arrival, pilgrims can dip their feet into the warm, healing waters—an ancient tradition known for its restorative benefits.
- Padrón: From Caldas de Reis, the path leads to Padrón, a town steeped in history and legend. According to tradition, this is where the remains of Saint James first arrived in Spain, making it a deeply spiritual stop along the Camino. Padrón is also famous for its Padrón peppers, a culinary delight that adds to the local charm. The peaceful riverside setting and historical significance make this town a memorable waypoint.
- Santiago de Compostela: The journey continues through the Galician countryside to Milladoiro, a small yet significant stop where pilgrims catch their first glimpses of Santiago de Compostela in the distance. The anticipation builds as the path winds through rolling hills and forests, bringing walkers ever closer to their final destination.
- Cathedral of Santiago:The pilgrimage culminates in the magnificent city of Santiago de Compostela, home to the Cathedral of Santiago, one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in the world. The final steps through the ancient streets, leading to the grand cathedral, are filled with emotion and triumph. Pilgrims gather in the grand plaza to celebrate their journey, attend the Pilgrim’s Mass, and reflect on their incredible accomplishment. The city itself, rich in history, culture, and vibrant energy, offers a fitting and unforgettable conclusion to this transformative experience.

This is a great way to escape the city hustle for a day (or longer) and surround yourself with beautiful, calming nature. Our guide Elizabeth was friendly and knowledgeable about the trail. I also met some fun and interesting people along the way. Highly recommend – I’m already planning my next hike with them.

Van Gogh Hiking. Perfect bright sunny day walking at Auvers-sur-Oise by Garrett. More like a stroll. Very easy going. Wandered about the beautiful french village. Garrett had good stories on Van Gogh life in the village. Even brought sun flower for VG grave site. Garrett could be more attentive to all members of the group. Overall, a nice day paying respect to VG.

Wooooooooowwww!
What a trip! First time traveling with a group, and I couldn't possibly have had a better experience. Maddy was so kind and knowledgeable, and kept the activities moving at the perfect pace. Never a dull moment. The accommodation was spot on--location and vibe were perfect. We stayed in Alta, NW for the Northern Lights Trip, and boy did it deliver. It had it all--aurora borealis, wildlife (WHALES! Foxes, reindeer, sea otters, puffins), the scenic fjords, sea cliffs, and tundra. And of course, being able to share the experience with with a group wonderful people really made this a core memory. Same time next year? ✌️

During the 2023 Christmas time, I went to hike in Mallorca, and I had a great time. The scenery in Mallorca is very beautiful. Particularly, when hiking along the route, you can see beautiful mountains, beautiful Mediterranean Sea, and Spanish houses. The blue sky, the fresh air, the light, the buildings, the mountains, ... All the scenes made me feel very calm and comfortable. During the hiking route, we visited Spanish towns, ate Spanish food, enjoyed the beach of the Mediterranean, it’s such a rich hiking trip. And every night we tasted food from different countries, all are very delicious! I thank our guide, thank friends in the group, it’s a wonderful hiking trip!!!

My Finland Northern Lights trip was overall a good experience, made especially smooth by the support from the organising team. A special mention to Maddy, who coordinated the trip efficiently and was always responsive, and to our trip guide Karan, who was friendly, helpful, and ensured things ran well throughout.
The itinerary, however, could use some refinement. For example, the day trip to Santa Village felt a bit unnecessary and that time could have been better spent in Inari, which had more to offer. The last day also felt rushed—we didn’t get enough time at the museum, and the Gold Museum was unfortunately closed (though we still got to try gold panning, which was enjoyable). A slightly more balanced or even shorter itinerary would likely improve the overall experience.
