Location and Geography
Zaamin National Park is located in the Zomin District of the Jizzakh Region in eastern Uzbekistan. Covering 156 square kilometers (60 square miles), the park features protected mountain landscapes and valleys such as Aldashmansoy, Baikungur, Gurulash, and Kulsoy. These valleys provide essential water sources for the park’s flora and fauna, thriving in a dry continental climate. The park’s elevation ranges from 1,700 meters (5,600 feet) in the Guralash Valley to 3,571 meters (11,716 feet) at Guralash Peak. Birdwatchers can spot black storks, ducks, geese, pelicans, and grey herons, with bearded vultures inhabiting the Chortangi Gorge.
