Getting There

Getting to Koh Rong Samloem is an adventure in itself. The first step is to fly into Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia. From there, you have several options:

  • Take a bus: There are regular buses that go from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville, the gateway to Koh Rong Samloem. The journey takes around 4-5 hours, depending on traffic.
  • Hire a private taxi: If you prefer a more comfortable and convenient option, you can hire a private taxi to take you directly to Sihanoukville. This is a great option if you’re traveling with a group or have a lot of luggage.
  • Take a boat: Once you reach Sihanoukville, you’ll need to take a boat to Koh Rong Samloem. There are several ferry companies that operate daily, and the journey takes about 45 minutes to an hour. Make sure to check the schedule in advance, as it may vary depending on the season.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Koh Rong Samloem is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. During this time, the weather is sunny and the sea is calm, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. However, keep in mind that this is also the peak tourist season, so the island may be more crowded. If you prefer a quieter experience, you can visit during the shoulder seasons of May-June or September-October.

Accommodation

Koh Rong Samloem offers a range of accommodation options to suit every budget and preference. From luxury resorts to budget-friendly bungalows, you’ll find something that suits your needs. Here are a few popular options:

  • Saracen Bay Resort: This beachfront resort offers stunning views of the bay and comfortable rooms with modern amenities.
  • Moonlight Resort: Located on the quieter side of the island, this eco-friendly resort is perfect for those seeking tranquility and relaxation.
  • Lazy Beach Resort: Nestled in a secluded cove, this rustic resort is ideal for nature lovers and adventurers.
