  • Sofia: Bulgaria’s capital, Sofia, is a city steeped in history and culture. With roots dating back to antiquity, it has been influenced by Thracian, Roman, Ottoman, and Soviet civilizations. Landmarks like the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and Roman ruins blend with vibrant modern life, offering a unique cultural experience. Sofia’s central location and dynamic atmosphere make it the ideal starting point for exploring Bulgaria.
  • Borovets Ski Resort: Located in the Rila Mountains, Borovets is one of Bulgaria’s top ski destinations. Renowned for its well-groomed slopes and modern facilities, it caters to skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels. Beyond skiing, the resort offers breathtaking alpine scenery and vibrant après-ski options, making it a hub for winter sports and leisure.
  • Discover local cuisine: Bulgarian cuisine is a flavorful fusion of Balkan and Mediterranean influences, known for its fresh ingredients and hearty dishes. Staples like banitsa, a cheese-filled pastry, and the iconic Shopska salad, a vibrant mix of vegetables and white cheese, reflect the simplicity and richness of local flavors.   • Thermal Pools: The thermal pools near Borovets, offer a truly rejuvenating experience in one of Bulgaria’s most scenic regions. These mineral-rich waters are renowned for their therapeutic properties, soothing both body and mind. Would be perfect way to unwind after a few days of being in the mountains.

TRIP DETAILS

Start & End Date:

  • Opt. A – Thursday (anytime) 26 Feb to Mon, 2 March 2026
  • Opt. B – Friday (until afternoon) 27 Feb to Mon, 2 Mar 2026

Meeting location:

  • Opt. A – Meet your guide and fellow participants at your accommodation in Sofia city from 5pm onwards on Thursday.
  • Opt. B – Meet your guide & fellow participants on Friday afternoon in Sofia city centre at the latest by 2pmNote: Exact location in Sofia will be advised in the WhatsApp group on the day based on where the group will be when you get there.

Finishing Location for both options: Sofia Airport from 2 pm onwards on Monday.

Note: If you are leaving earlier or later, please let us know in the sheet that will be shared with you closer to the event date, so that we can accordingly make the relevant arrangements.

Difficulty: This is a skiing / snowboarding trip that caters to everyone.

Whait is Included?

  • Community leader for the entire duration
  • 1 x nights twin – shared hotel accommodation in Sofia. Note: Additional accommodation upgrade options are available.
  • 3 x nights twin – shared hotel accommodation in Borovets. Note: Additional accommodation upgrade options are available.
  • Breakfast included on all days
  • Private Transportation for the entire trip starting from the meeting location to the finishing location.
  • Ski/snowboard hire
  • Winter gear hire (including helmet, jackets etc)
  • Thermal pools
  • Lift passes for 2 days
  • Guided walking tour of Sofia.

Optional Add-On (can be bought closer to the trip with more details shared)

  • Ski and snowboard lessons with a private instructor with prices ranging from 20 – 30 euros per person for 2 hours based on upto 4 people.

How to get to Sofia?

WHAT IS THE PLAN?

  • Day 0 – Meet & Greet: Arrive in Sofia Airport and then catch the subway/ taxi to get to accommodation in central Sofia, where you would be meeting your guide for this trip as well as the other participants joining from various parts of Europe.
  • Day 1 -Sofia Walking Tour: Post checkout from our accommodation in Sofia, we embark on a walking tour with a professional local guide. We visit the main churches and explore the fascinating history of this picturesque city. After lunch, we start heading to Borovetsour ski location for the next two days.
  • Day 2 and 3 – Borovets ski resort: For the next two days, we ski and snowboard in the Rila Mountains, the highest mountains in Bulgaria. You can opt in for lessons by professional instructors who will teach you the basics or improve your existing technique on the slopes. In the evenings, we explore the unique culinary scene of Borovets by visiting some of the many “mehana”, traditional rustic tavern-style restaurants, play games and make new friends!
  • Day 4 –Departure: After breakfast, we say goodbye to Borovets before heading back to Sofia for flight departures from 3pm back home (expected to be at airport by around 2pm or earlier if discussed and agreed).

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

  • Free cancellation up to 7 full days before the start of the trip. After that, cancel up to 5 days before the trip to get a 50% refund.
  • If the event is cancelled by Urbanature Travel (UNT), you will get a full refund (excluding any airfares), unless you have purchased a flight inclusive package directly with Urbanature Travel (UNT) in which case you will get a refund including the flights.
  • Please note that the program, as well as the venue is subject to change due to extreme weather conditions, as well as to the characteristics and size of the group.
  • Urbanature Travel (UNT) needs a minimum of 5 participants for this trip to take place, else we may cancel this trip.
  • UNT reserves the right to cancel the trip, modify the route, change the accommodation or re-schedule hikes and without prior notice.
  • UNT is not responsible for any loss, theft, damage or personal injury that occurs during the trip.
