Start & End Date: Thu, 25 Sep – Sun, 5 Oct 2025

Starting time & location: Lilia Hotel in Piraeus, Athens – Meet your guide at 6PM on Thursday 25th of September.

Note: If you are arriving earlier or later, please us know in the sheet that will be shared with you closer to the event date, so that we can accordingly make the relevant pickup arrangements.

Finishing time & location: Athens city 1st of October – 10:30 AM on Wednesday 1st of October. If you will join the ADD-ON Santorini: Finish will be Santorini Airport Sunday 5th of October 10:30 AM.

Note: If you are leaving earlier or later, please us know in the sheet that will be shared with you closer to the event date, so that we can accordingly make the relevant drop-off arrangements.

Hiking / Walking Distance (Note: Hikes are completely optional):

Day 0 (Thursday): Arrive in Athens, Greece.
Day 1: Drive from Athens to Meteora, 355km taking around 4-5 hours by minivan.
Day 2: 11 km – Loop hike around the Monasteries in Meteora with an elevation of 350m
Day 3: 3 km – Hiking and Scramble Tour between the rock formations in Meteora taking around 3 hours.
Day 4: Drive from Meteora to Athens, 355km taking around 4-5 hours by minivan.
Day 5: Local tour of Athens centre, max 3 hours with an optional visit to the Acropolis
Day 6: Departure day from Athens city or travel onwards by ferry to Santorini (230 km taking around 5 ½ to 6 hours)

SANTORINI ADD-ON:

Day 1: Travel by ferry from Piraeus to Santorini – 230km, duration 5 ½ to 6 hours
Day 2: Hike from Fira to Oia – around 10km with an elevation of 300-400m with good paths taking around 3-4 hours.
Day 3: Beach day
Day 4: Catamaran boat trip
Day 5: Departure day from Santorini Airport

Hiking Difficulty: Easy going / intermediate – hiking at relaxed pace on well-marked paths, moderate elevation, sure-footedness & general good fitness required.

How to get to Athens?

Flying is the fastest way to reach Athens (Eleftherios Venizelos) Airport, with direct flights from most European cities.
Departing from Santorini is possible via Airport or Ferry (via Piraeus Athens and fly out of Athens is also an option).

Other Things of Note:
A suggested packing list as well as a trip briefing document will be provided closer to the trip start date.

WHAT IS THE DETAILED PLAN?

THE DAY TO DAY PLAN OF THE MAGIC GREECE ADVENTURE?

Day 0 (Thu, 25 Sep) – Meet & Greet: Arrive in Athens and check in at the Lilia Hotel in Piraeus where you would be meeting your guide for this trip as well as the other participants from joining from various parts of Europe.
Day 1 – Athens to Meteora: After breakfast we will start the drive up North to Meteora which takes around 4-5 hours by minivan. We will have lunch on the road or after check in at Kalambaka in Meteora. After settling in and around sunset time we will drive to the Meteora sunset viewpoints. There are several spots for amazing views, one being the main observation deck and one is called the Sunset rock.

Day 2 – Meteora: Today we would be hiking the beautiful Monasteries loop hike from Kastraki. This hike passes several of the Monasteries and if open (opening times vary for each monastery), we will visit them too. It is a loop hike that takes around 3 ½ hours excluding our time inside the monasteries. After lunch there is free time the rest of the afternoon for relaxing and / or (souvenir) shopping.
Day 3 – Exploring more of the rock formations: Today we go on the Hiking and Scramble tour of the Great Saint – a 3-hour adventure off the beaten track with experienced climbing and hiking guides. After a well-deserved lunch we take a road trip to Trikala to visit the beautiful the Palaiokarya’s Stone Bridge. Afterwards we will have dinner in the local village and drive back to our hotel.
Day 4 – Travel day from Meteora back to Athens: After breakfast we will drive back to Athens and check in at our hotel. After all this exploring it is time to go relax at the amazing Bolivar Beach Club. Entrance is provided and sun beds can be rented there too (at own expense). Enjoy the beach club for the rest of the day!

Day 5 – Explore historical Athens: After breakfast we will make our way into the centre and meet our guide. We will enjoy a guided city tour of the historic centre of Athens. Opt to visit the infamous Acropolis for those interested. For those that do not want to go…you will have free time for (souvenir) shopping instead. For dinner we will go to a rooftop restaurant overlooking the Acropolis.

Day 6 (Wed, 1 Oct) – Departure day: After breakfast, make your way to the Airport or continue the Greek adventure with the ADD-ON Santorini.

WHAT IS THE DAY TO DAY PLAN FOR SANTORINI?

Day 6 (Wed, 1 Oct) – Travel by ferry to Santorini: From Piraeus harbour we will travel along several Greek islands to Santorini. By fast ferry it will take us around 5 ½ to 6 hours. Once at our hotel we will get settled in, get ready for our hike the next day and enjoy our first dinner on this island.
Day 7 – Hike from Fira to Oia: After breakfast we will make our way to Fira town and hike to the whitewashed village of Oia, a 10 km hike with the most amazing views and landscapes which takes around 3 to 4 hours. Rest of the day we will spend in Oia including lunch and enjoy the views with a Greek coffee or beer.
Day 8 – Black Sand beach day: Free time to relax today at the black sand beach in Kamari; opt to go on a Vineyard tour and taste some excellent local wines.

Day 9 – Catamaran boat trip: After an early breakfast it is Catamaran boat trip day including a BBQ lunch and drinks; visit to the Red Beach, White Beach and Volcanic island including thermal waters.
Day 10 (Sun, 5 Oct) – Departure day: Make your way to the Airport (or Ferry if travelling back to Piraeus, Athens) for your journey home.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

Free cancellation up to 7 full days before the start of the trip. After that, cancel up to 5 days before the trip to get a 50% refund.
If the event is cancelled by Urbanature Travel (UNT), you will get a full refund (excluding any airfares), unless you have purchased a flight inclusive package directly with Urbanature Travel (UNT) in which case you will get a refund including the flights.
Please note that the program, as well as the venue is subject to change due to extreme weather conditions, as well as to the characteristics and size of the group.
Urbanature Travel (UNT) needs a minimum of 5 participants for this trip to take place, else we may cancel this trip.
UNT reserves the right to cancel the trip, modify the route, change the accommodation or re-schedule hikes and without prior notice.
UNT is not responsible for any loss, theft, damage or personal injury that occurs during the trip.
