Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Les Baux-de-Provence and the Carrières de Lumières
Looking for a day of escape, discovery, and friendly atmosphere? The Polyglot Club community invites you to an unforgettable getaway on Saturday, December 11, 2027.
Discover some of Provence’s most iconic treasures: the charming village of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, a source of inspiration for Van Gogh and a heart of authentic Provence, followed by Les Baux-de-Provence, one of the most beautiful villages in France, perched in the heart of the Alpilles.
The day will continue with a visit to Les Baux-de-Provence and, optionally, the famous Carrières de Lumières, where art, sound, and monumental images create a unique immersive experience.
This trip is a perfect opportunity to combine nature, history, culture, and relaxation while sharing warm moments with an open and passionate community. An experience not to be missed.
This excursion will be hosted in two languages, French and English, by your multilingual Polyglot Club guide.

PROGRAM
1. Departure from Marseille
Meeting point right next to Saint-Charles train station, near the entrance of the Saint-Charles Faculty of Science (Place Victor Hugo).

2. Pick-up in Aix-en-Provence
Avenue Henri Mouret, next to the Partouche Casino.
Meeting time at 8:15 a.m.

3. Morning and lunch in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence
Start the day in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, a charming Provençal village nestled in the heart of the Alpilles. Surrounded by iconic landscapes of cypress trees and olive groves, it captivates visitors with its authentic and peaceful atmosphere.
Follow in the footsteps of Van Gogh thanks to a walking trail illustrated with reproductions of his works painted in the region, then enjoy free time strolling through the lively streets filled with artisan shops, art galleries, and shaded squares.
Optional visits include the ancient Roman site of Glanum, a remarkable archaeological complex, or the Alpilles Museum to better understand local history and traditions.
For lunch, choose one of the many restaurants in the village offering delicious Provençal cuisine, or opt for a picnic in a pleasant green setting.
4. Afternoon in Les Baux-de-Provence and the Carrières de Lumières
In the afternoon, head to Les Baux-de-Provence, one of the most beautiful villages in France, perched on a rocky spur in the heart of the Alpilles. Stroll through its medieval streets, admire the stone houses, and enjoy spectacular panoramic views over the surrounding valley.
Optionally, do not miss a visit to the Carrières de Lumières, a unique site where former stone quarries host monumental immersive exhibitions. Sound and monumental images transform the quarry walls into true works of art, offering an unforgettable cultural and sensory experience.
Free time to enjoy the village, take photos, or relax before the return.

5. Drop-off in Aix-en-Provence

Arrival around 7:00 p.m. (approximately).
6. Return to Marseille
Arrival around 7:30 p.m. (approximately).

Explore the ancient remains of this former Gallo-Roman city.

- Alpilles Museum
Located in the Hôtel Mistral de Mondragon, this ethnographic museum highlights Provençal traditions, local craftsmanship, and the relationship between people and their environment.
Price: €7 per person. Payment on site.

Optional visits in Les Baux and Saint-Rémy
Carrières de Lumières, Les Baux castle, Glanum archaeological site and the Alpilles Museum: admission not included. Seasonal opening, the 2027 programme, prices and booking procedures will be provided before sales open; no 2026 exhibition is promised. Expect sloping paths and dark spaces at the Carrières. Those not taking paid visits have free time in the villages.

You can come alone, as a couple, with your family, or with friends.
Marseille meeting point
Next to Marseille Saint-Charles station, by the entrance to the Faculty of Sciences Saint-Charles on Place Victor-Hugo, at the “Faculté Saint-Charles” bus stop.

Avenue Henri-Mouret, Quai 28, two minutes on foot from the bus station, on the Casino Partouche side of the avenue. Groups are now picked up at Quai 28, not Quai 25.

Refund Policy- If the event is canceled by the organizer, your ticket will be fully refunded, excluding the cancellation insurance fee if purchased.
- If you cancel your booking, the ticket is non-refundable unless you have purchased cancellation insurance.
Without insurance, you can transfer your ticket to another person for free by providing us with their name.
Late Arrival
We reserve the right to refuse participation to individuals arriving late for the first departure of the bus at the meeting point.
Non-Payment
We also reserve the right to refuse participation to individuals who have not paid the balance before the bus departs.
Participation of People with Disabilities
To ensure the safety and well-being of all our participants, we recommend that people with disabilities be accompanied by a support person throughout the excursion. Your safety is our priority, and by informing us in advance of your specific needs, we can ensure the best possible experience for you. If participation is not possible for safety reasons, a full refund will be offered.
Participation of Minors
Minor children must be accompanied by their parents, legal representatives, or guardians to participate. No waiver can be signed by our guides. If a minor arrives alone, we will not be able to allow their participation in the excursion, and a full refund will be offered.
