Digne-les-Bains: Lavender Parade and town centre — to be confirmed
Polyglot Club is preparing a summer day trip to Digne-les-Bains on Sunday, August 1, 2027, with coach transport from Marseille and Aix-en-Provence. The aim is to combine time in the town with the festive atmosphere of the Lavender Parade, subject to confirmation of the official date and a suitable daytime programme.
The Corso celebrates the local lavender tradition through decorated floats and musical groups. Taking time to observe the decorations and enjoy the passing procession is the main festival experience we hope to include. The exact parade, access arrangements and viewing opportunities will be specified once the 2027 programme is published.
Alongside the festivities, discover Digne’s central squares and shopping streets, pause for photographs and choose your own place for lunch. The proposed day alternates town exploration and festival time, leaving room to rest in the shade and enjoy the town at your own pace.
Our French- and English-speaking Polyglot Club host will accompany the group and encourage language exchanges throughout the day. This is a town-and-festival excursion, rather than a visit to flowering lavender fields. The trip remains to be confirmed, and booking is closed until the necessary arrangements are established.

DATE AND PROGRAMME TO BE CONFIRMED
Sunday 1 August 2027 is a proposed date, not an officially confirmed parade date. This trip depends on a daytime parade or worthwhile activities compatible with our coach return. The date and programme may change; booking is not open.
Sales are planned to open on October 1, 2026, subject to the required confirmations. Reservations are currently closed.

PROGRAMME – DIGNE AND LAVENDER PARADE (PROVISIONAL)
1. Marseille, then Aix-en-Provence
Planned departures: Marseille at 07:00, then Aix at 07:45. Please arrive at your meeting point 15 minutes early. After a break en route, we aim to reach Digne around 10:00.
2. Digne-les-Bains and its traditions
Explore the central squares, shopping streets and Old Town façades at your own pace. Choose a restaurant or bring a picnic for lunch. Meals are not included.
Take time to discover the town
On arrival, the coordinator will explain the meeting point and accessible areas before you enjoy the centre. Browse the shopping streets, look at the façades and squares, then choose a place for lunch. This first part of the day allows you to discover Digne without spending the whole visit beside the parade route.
Divide your time between walking, photographs and a break in the shade. Allow extra time to rejoin the group: barriers, crowds and closed streets can lengthen a walk. Indoor museum visits are not included.
Independent lunch break
Choose a restaurant or bring your picnic. Meals and drinks are at your own expense. Enjoy conversation with fellow participants during the break, while leaving enough time to reach the next meeting point.
3. Daytime Lavender Parade
We aim to enjoy daytime festival activities and the parade: decorated floats and musical groups are part of this local tradition. No specific parade or time is guaranteed for 2027 yet. Viewing and meeting points will be chosen when access arrangements are known. This is not a visit to the Valensole lavender fields, and flowering lavender is not promised.
A festive tradition celebrating lavender
The Corso celebrates lavender through decorated floats and music. Look closely at the decorations, enjoy the passing groups and share the festive atmosphere. The event usually spans several days; our excursion focuses on daytime activities compatible with the coach journey home.
Once the 2027 programme is published, we will specify the selected parade, its time window and access arrangements. The coordinator will explain where to meet and how to reach the pickup point. The day will leave room for lunch and free time, without requiring everyone to attend every activity.
Dances, fireworks and night-time performances from previous editions are outside this day trip. The Corso and the separate Lavender Fair are different events. Discover the Corso tradition.
4. Return journey
Provisional departure from Digne around 17:30; return around 19:30 in Aix and 20:15 in Marseille, traffic permitting. Coach drop-off and pickup must be outside the closed parade route. No evening show is included.
FESTIVAL ACCESS AND POSSIBLE TICKETS
Whether access will be free or charged in 2027 remains to be confirmed. No reserved grandstand seat is included. If paid areas are offered, prices and booking arrangements will be provided before sales open. Do not buy separate tickets before our trip is confirmed. We will check details with the Digne festival committee.
WHAT TO BRING
Bring a hat, sufficient water, sun protection and comfortable shoes. Prepare for heat, crowds and walking. Lunch and shopping remain independent; no museum visit or private tasting is included.

When booking opens: pay the deposit online, then the remaining €30 on the coach. No payment is possible yet.

Next to Marseille Saint-Charles station, by the entrance to the Faculty of Sciences Saint-Charles on Place Victor-Hugo, at the “Faculté Saint-Charles” bus stop.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Bring comfortable shoes, water, sun or rain protection and clothing suitable for the season. Return times are approximate and depend on traffic and access. For coastal trips, swimming and access to natural areas depend on weather and local restrictions.
Minors must be accompanied by parents, legal representatives or guardians; a waiver cannot replace supervision. An unaccompanied minor cannot participate and will be refunded. Discuss accessibility needs in advance so safe participation can be assessed; a support person is recommended where needed.
Arrive punctually: late arrival or failure to pay the balance may prevent participation.
