It is set in the Middle Ages and includes a medieval market, a chivalry, a tournament, falconry shows, food stalls, street entertainment, juggling, music, workshops, leather, wood, textile and natural products crafts and more.

In 2013, it was declared a festival of tourist interest by the Galician government. Today, it brings together some 100,000 people  who dress up in period costumes to take part in the festivities.

Sunday, 8th September

We will visit the beautiful village of Combarro. Combarro may be one of the “most Galician villages” in Galicia. Scattered throughout the village are the iconic Galician hórreos (granaries) and numerous cruceiros, or double-sided stone crosses. Add to this the traditional seafaring houses, winding cobbled streets and charming squares and you have one of Galicia’s best-loved villages.

We will then take the boat to Tambo Island, a beautiful uninhabited island in the Pontevedra estuary, which can only be reached with a guide. But hey, remember, I’m a tourist guide! I’ll give you a guided tour of the island and tell you about its legends and interesting history.

Afterwards, we will return to the port of Combarro and enjoy a good Galician meal.

It’s time to say goodbye, I hope you have enjoyed your week in Galicia and that you have improved your Spanish.

But wait, that’s not all

With Travel Spanish course, you will learn how to communicate in Spanish in common travel situations, for example:

  • Asking for directions to a place.

  • You will discover local curiosities and traditions.
  • You will participate in workshops and activities that will boost your level of Spanish.
  • You will receive Spanish lessons with me in a small group of travellers who are learning Spanish like you.
  • You will be able to speak Spanish at all times with different people.

This program is the best way to improve your Spanish level in another way. Ana is the best Spanish teacher and host I ever met. Besides the Spanish lessons, we did some great workshops and activities and met the locals, friends, and family of Ana, which was really fabulous. Galicia surprised me; it is a very beautiful region of Spain.

What I liked the most was the organisation and variety of activities. From these days I take with me a bit of Pontevedra, a bit of Galicia, a bit of the people and the culture of the place, Ana’s passion for her work.
